PLEASE VOTE ‘YES’
In mid-July, the Examiner’s Report on the Hook Neighbourhood Plan (HNP) was received by Hart District Council. The report sets out the parameters against which the Plan Document and supporting evidence must be assessed. The document had to pass a number of tests, to ensure it complied with local, national and EU policies. As expected, the Examiner proposed several modifications and made recommendations, to amend, add or remove some statements. The Parish Council and NP Steering Group were given the opportunity to comment on the recommendations, before the final Report was sent to Hart.
On 1st August, Hart District Council considered the Report and recommended that the modified plan should go forward to Referendum on 7th October. The Referendum is conducted in the same way as Council elections:
7th October 2019
Elizabeth Hall, Raven Road Hook
between 07.00 and 22.00.
Notice of the Ballot and Polling Cards will the sent out in early September. If you are already registered to vote, then you will receive your Polling Card, or in the case of postal votes, a ballot paper in the normal way. If you are not already registered, the closing dates are:
- Register to Vote by 5 pm on 19th September
- Register for Postal Vote by 5 pm on 20th September
- Register for Proxy Vote by 5 pm on 27th September
The Ballot Paper will ask the question ‘Do you want Hart District Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Hook to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area’. You show your choice by putting a cross (X) in the ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ box on your ballot paper.
It is important for the future of Hook and the regeneration of our village centre, that as many residents as possible exercise their right to vote. If more than 50% of the votes are YES (in favour of the Plan), then Hart District Council will formally adopt the Plan as part of the Hart Development Plan to be used in the determination of planning applications relating to land in Hook Parish.
After 28th August the Referendum version of the Plan, and the locations where copies of the Plan are held, can be viewed at www.hart.gov.uk/hook
Please encourage as many people as possible to support the Plan and VOTE YES on 7th October.
